Signs of Infertility - Discover How to Detect Them Now!

The signs of infertility are different from one woman to the next. Some women show early signs of infertility, while others don't realize it until they try to conceive. Infertility is not uncommon in women with over 7 million cases being reported in the United States each year. Sometimes, it is even the man in the relationship that is affected by infertility. In fact, male infertility is the cause of 40% of the cases in infertile couples.
Irregular Menstrual Cycle
The most common of the signs of infertility is an irregular menstrual cycle. Keep in mind that while an irregular menstrual cycle is one of the many signs of infertility, it can mean many other things. An irregular menstrual cycle does not necessarily mean that a woman is experiencing infertility.
Weight Problems- Overweight or Underweight
Weight problems can also be a sign of infertility for more than one reason. Either being overweight or underweight can be an indication of a problem. Women who border on being emaciated may have trouble conceiving because they are not getting the proper nutrients from their diet. Obese women may also have trouble conceiving because the extra weight can cause hormonal problems. These hormonal problems can, in turn, cause problems with a woman's reproductive system.
Substance Abuse
Another problem that can cause a woman to have problems conceiving is substance abuse. This can include both drugs and alcohol. These are causes of infertility as opposed to signs of infertility, but they can both make it hard for a woman to conceive. Women who use and abuse alcohol and illegal drugs are harming their bodies and affecting the way they work. They are likely to be unable to produce a child because the illegal drugs or alcohol can depress growth and development of the fetus.
Male Infertility
Physical or anatomical problems can be signs of infertility seen in men. One factor in infertility in men is un-descended testicles; while other times infertility in men is caused by an outside source. A man can have problems producing viable sperm for conception because his pants or underwear are too tight. The inability to produce children can also be caused by excessive heat exposure to the scrotum.
Many of the signs of infertility in men and women are the same. Weight problems and substance abuse are two causes of infertility that can affect both a man and woman's ability to produce children. The same reasons a woman cannot conceive or carry a pregnancy can also cause a man to have a low sperm count or poor sperm motility.
Ovulation-The importance of good timing
Before couples who have not conceived assume they are infertile, they should take steps to have intercourse during the time that the woman is ovulating. This is a better solution if she is not getting pregnant than immediately going to the doctor for infertility treatment. A woman can do a couple of different things aside from seeing the doctor. She should first try tracking her basal body temperature or using an ovulation kit to predict the right time to have intercourse. If she is not ovulating or cannot conceive even while having intercourse during the right time of the month, she should then see her doctor for an evaluation.

Hey Riley...great article. I actually know a woman who was told that she couldn't get pregnant or couldn't have children. After she lost about 50 lbs....she got pregnant. Who knew that weight played such an important role in conceiving. Welcome to Search Warp!
