Mild acne is no cause for alarm except when it shows up on the eve of a big date or the day before your wedding. There is no need to seek out elaborate or costly acne treatments at the first sign of a blemish. If you are looking for a way to prevent or get rid of pimples, the first thing you need to know is there is no perfect product that will prevent acne or erase blemishes, instantly. Don't believe what you hear about these so-called "fast" acne treatments. Each person's skin and skin problems are unique. When you begin looking for information, you are likely to find more advice then you really need. There is ton of data available about causes and treatments that can help you get rid of pimples. However, it can be quite difficult to sort out all the conflicting reports about acne treatments and know what will work best for you and your skin. The first and best cure for acne is prevention. Whether you already have experienced problems or just want to make sure those blemishes do not erupt at the worst moment. You should begin by determining if your current regimen is good for you. Look at the amount of oil on your skin. Some oil is essential to help maintain a healthy looking complexion. If you have oily skin that is due to hormones, you will be more susceptible to acne, especially around your nose. In order to get rid of pimples in this area of your face, it is very important that you wash your face at least two times per day so that you prevent your pores from filling with debris. You should also avoid using any oil-based lotions or make-up and use an astringent if you still have excess oil on your face. If this does not work, and you feel that you need different acne treatments there are a number of products available at the drugstore. Most of the recommended solutions tend to contain benzyl peroxide, which kills the bacteria in your pores, and encourages the skin to shed dead cells that can block your pores. If you already have developed blemishes, and are trying to get rid of them, it may take a while for the benzyl peroxide work effectively. It should work within a short time for most cases of mild or moderate acne. If after a few weeks or a couple of months you do not see results, then you should make an appointment with a dermatologist. The physician may want to prescribe something stronger.

One final source of acne treatments may be your family members. Skin types are often inherited, and your parents or grandparents may have a treatment that worked well for them. Maybe they have an old family remedy that will work for you.
